Maple, Orange, And Spiced Glazed Ham

Sweet, salty and a touch of amazing spices this glaze will make any ham taste incredible.

A delicious and reasonable simple recipe it will wow anyone who try’s it!

Ingredients

  • Ham, bone-in(about 5kg with rind removed)
  • Cloves for studding (about 30)
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup of water

Glaze

  • 3/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp All Spice
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Let Ham come to room temperature for at least 1 hour before starting.
  2. Preheat oven to 140°C fan-forced.
  3. Move the rack so ham will cook in the center of the oven.
  4. Place all Glaze ingredients in a bowl and mix until combined.
  5. Cut 2.5cm diamonds across the fat surface of the ham. (without cutting into the meat)
  6. Insert a clove in the cross of each diamond on the surface.
  7. Place the ham in a large baking dish. (if laying ham over, lay the end of the ham over the edge of the dish to keep it laying even)
  8. Add the water to the bottom of the baking dish
  9. Drizzle the orange juice over the ham, then brush about 1/2 of the glaze mixture onto the cut surface of the ham.
  10. Place into the oven for about 1.5-2 hours brushing very generously every 20 minutes with remaining glaze, juices in the dish.
  11. Once a lovely golden brown, remove from oven and rest for 20 minutes, basting continually with juices.
  12. Present with a bow or how to like and have a very mary Christmas!
