Simple and delicious! With added Dutch smoked cheese this recipe is sure to add something a little extra to traditional mac and cheese.
If you prefer mac and cheese extra cheesy… we recommend you add 1/2 to 1 cup extra of your preferred cheese.
Ingredients
- 220grams elbow macaroni
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Black pepper to taste
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup cheddar cheese (grated)
- 1 cup of dutch smoked cheese (grated)
Instructions
- Cook elbow macaroni according to packet instructions, set aside.
- In a large pot over a medium heat melt butter. Add flour and whisk until smooth.
- turn the heat down to low-medium heat and pour in milk slowly, while whisking continuously. Continue to cook and whisk until the mixture is smooth and bubbling.
- Add in the cheeses, salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder and continue whisking or string until all smooth and combined. Adjust the flavour to your liking here. (more salt or pepper).
- Drain the cooked macaroni and fold it into cheese sauce until coated.
- Serve and Enjoy!
